Our Projects
Vocational Education Center
To reduce the number of street children coming to the street, we have to start at the root of the problem; the families. Hearts-Vision started constructing classrooms where the youth and adults from the surrounding community can learn skills and receive counseling. Related to income-generating activities, health and well being, family planning, family strengthening, profitable agriculture, etc
School Fees Sponsor Program
Sustaining a family can be a difficult task. Especially when you don’t have enough income, being a single parent, or have other challenges. In many cases survival will be the priority and there will not be more resources for schoolfees. Hearts-Vision helps children from vulnerable families to go to school. We support children in Primary School, Secondary School and Vocational Education.
Clean Drinking Water for Community
Water is life. Before we started constructing our Education Center it was very hard to find water. There was a well in the nearby area, but the still standing water was dirty, feces of cattle was found next to the well and the water was not safe to drink. We created a watersystem, with a very deep borehole, connected to a waterpump which pumps water into 2 big 10.000 liter watertanks. An outlet platform for the community was created. Every day about 200-500 people come to get water from the water system., depending on the season.
Outreach and Resettlement
We believe that the best way to grow up is within a family setting. Our outreach and resettlement program is created to locate and monitor vulnerable (street) children on street, in slums, and in poor communities. Our aim is to reintegrate street children with their families whenever this is possible.
Sports and Activities
Motion is emotion. Sports and activities play a major role in the development of children. Sadly, many times a child doesn’t have to the opportunity to play and feel like a child, even if it’s just for a moment. Hearts-Vision promotes sports activities like dancing, football, etc.
Agricultural Activities
Hearts-Vision Vocational Education Center is constructed on a 5.15 acre piece of land. That means there is still a lot of space to do agricultural activities. On our land we cultivate a variety of crops; maize, cassava, greens, passion fruit, mango, avocado, sugar cane, jackfruit, coffee, papaya, and more. We also started keeping animals; chickens, turkeys, rabbits, goats, sheep, cats and dogs. In near future we hope to increase the harvest of our crops and livestock so that it will help the project to become self sustainable.
Where We Work
Going to the ends, where no one else goes. Our work requires us to operate in challenging places so that we can reach the most vulnerable children and families in Uganda. Hearts-Vision Education Center is located 40 km outside of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.
